I am currently a senior at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, and majoring in Fashion Design. I’ve taken numerous classes within my major, including Costume History, Textile Science, Visual Communication within the Fashion Industry, Social Psychology of Dress, and Consumer Behavior. I completed my first studio class in my Spring semester of this year, which covered pattern making, and garment assembly. Currently, I am in my second studio class, which focuses on draping with both wovens and knits.

For my spring semester sophomore year, I studied abroad in Melbourne, Australia, at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). There, I studied a highly intensive fashion design program, and gained much insight, and additional experiences from an international perspective.

In summer of 2008, I interned with the handbag label, Be & D in New York City. I gained an incredible amount of insight not only into the fashion industry, but into the development of women’s accessories. I was given numerous tasks and responsibilities. My projects varied quite a bit, which really helped me get a feel for all aspects of the design process. I drew technical flats using Adobe Illustrator, made sample tickets, ran errands to our sample maker and our hardware and leather suppliers, and organized leathers. I feel that I now have a much greater appreciation and understanding for the accessories industry and the work that goes into creating a single piece.
